6/23/06 -Brewers downed 16-6
The American Legion Brewers (8-6) had another frustrating night tonight losing to the first place Braves by a score of 16-6. The team was forced to dig deep into it's pitching rotation due to the 11 inning affair against the White Sox last night. Brock Bodoh (0 innings-four hits, eight runs (seven earned) started and had some trouble getting any outs before he was relieved by Dan Brugger who allowed five runs (three earned) on eight hits in two innings of work. AJ Emerich then pitched the third inning, allowing one run on two hits before Derek Hall finished-up, allowing two un-earned runs (after an error and two walks) in the fourth and thus ending the game because of the 10-run rule. Offensively, Dylan Hinckley and Alex Loveland were both 2-3 with three RBI and each player had a double. Next up:The team finishes out the regular season on Monday at home against the Tigers on the WBLL West Diamond at 5:45PM.

6/22/06 - Brewers/Sox Barn Burner suspended after 11 innings
The American Legion Brewers and Paradise Mobil Whitesox played to a 6-6 tie after WBLL umpire Bob Morrison suspended the game after 11 innings due to the local rule that doesn't allow and inning to start after 10:30PM. With the Brewers cruising along with a 5-1 lead in the top of the fifth, the Sox mounted a big inning of their own, scoring five times off starter Dylan Hinckley to take a 6-5 lead which they maintained as the game went into the bottom of the sixth. Down to their last out, Brewers shortstop Alex Nannetti drew a walk to get the tying run on base. Derek Hall then drilled a 2-2 pitch to left-center field, which brought Nannetti all the way around to score the tying run while Hall ended up on third with a triple. Hall then was left stranded and the game then headed into extra-innings. Nannetti came on in relief of Hinckley and did a great job of keeping the Tigers at bay. Then in the bottom of the tenth the Brewers loaded up the bases with no outs for Grant Waala who layed down a nice bunt but the Tigers First Baseman made a great play to cut down Nick Wolf at the plate and bring up the next hitter, Eric Haeuser, still with the bases loaded. Haeuser also got his bunt down but the Tigers were there again to throw out AJ Emerich at home and the catcher then doubled up Haeuser at first to end the inning and send the game into the 11th. Neither team could score in the inning and it has yet to be decided when the game will resume play. Next up: The Brewers play the Braves tonight at 5:45PM on the WBLL West diamond.

6/21/06 -Tigers Maul Brewers 13-0
The American Legion Brewers (8-6) took an ugly beating from the Tigers last night losing 13-0 and falling into a third place tie with Tigers in the process. Derek Hall got a rare start and had trouble finding the strike zone, giving up nine runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out just one. Nick Wolf releived and didnt fare much better as he gave up four earned runs on three hits and three walks in an inning and a third. The Crew also was lackluster at the plate as they could only muster two hits, one each by Dylan Hinckley and AJ Emerich. Next up: Thursday at home against the Whitesox at 7:45PM on the West Diamond.

6/15/06 - Brewers bow to Cubs 7-4

With the win, the Cubs (9-4) are now in sole possession of second place in the National League. Despite the lack of support, Alex Loveland had a solid outing, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out six and walking five in six innings. Offensively, the Brewers were led by AJ Emerich who went 2-3 with an RBI. Alex Nannetti (1-3), Brock Bodoh (1-1) and Eric Haeuser (1-1, RBI) also helped the cause.

In the fourth, Dan Brugger and Alex Nannetti came through with one out singles and advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. Derek Hall then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Brugger and move Nannetti to third. Nannetti proceeded to score on another wild pitch and that put the Brewers up 4-3 heading into the fifth. After the Tigers tied the game up with a run in the top of the inning, the Brewers exploded for three more runs in the bottom frame to put the Tigers away for good. Dylan Hinckley started and went the distance for the Brewers allowing two earned runs on three hits, while walking ninge and striking out five. Loveland went the distance, allowing only three hits, two walks and one hit batsman while striking out eight Angels hitters. In breaking their three game losing streak, the team remains in a tie for second place in the National League with the Cubs who handed the Braves their first loss of the season this evening in another WBLL game. Starting pitcher Nick Wolf had a solid outing allowing five unearned runs on five hits while going the distance. He walked four, struck out three and hit one batsman. Offensively, the Brewers could only muster three hits, one apiece from Alex Nannetti (2 SB), Derek Hall (2 SB) and Wolf (Double).

6/3/06 - Brewers Scalped by Braves 14-4
The American Legion Brewers took one on the chin last night by a lopsided score of 14-4 against 7-up Braves. The Brewers who were playing without the services of Blake Wiskirchen, who is out indefinately due to a broken collarbone sustained in a car accident, and Jack Baumann, had a hard time getting started after being off for eight consecutive days because of a rain-out. Starting pitcher Dylan Hinckley did not have his usual stuff and the defense committed eight costly errors to allow the Braves to take a two game lead as we near the mid-point of the regular season. The Braves scored eight runs (four earned) in two innings off Hinckley who also struck out two and allowed six hits. Nick Wolf had a strong outing in middle relief as he didnt allow any runs while striking out one and allowing only one hit in two innings of work. Derek Hall then struggled in the last two innings of the game as he allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits while striking out two and hitting one batsman. Offensively, the team really seemed to miss Wiskirchen as they only came up with five hits in the entire game. Hall, Alex Loveland, Hinckley (2RBI), Grant Waala and Dan Brugger each had one hit apiece in the losing effort. Next up: the team looks to get back to form on Monday as they face the Braves again at 7:30PM on the North Diamond.

5/25/06 - Brewers tame Tigers 4-3
The American Legion Brewers continue to remain one game behind the Braves as they came back tonight from a 3-2 deficit in the last inning to defeat the M&I Bank Tigers 4-3 in dramatic fashion. The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Derek Hall led-off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by AJ Emerich. Hall then advanced to third on Dan Brugger's groundout to third and proceeded to score on a wild pitch. In the next inning the Crew scored again after Alex Loveland started the inning with a double to left-center and scored on another double, this time by Dylan Hinckley. The Tigers then scored three times over the next couple of innings to take a 3-2 lead heading into the fifth which laid the groundwork for the nail-biting finish. Still trailing 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Hall came up again and singled sharply to right field. Grant Waala followed up with a blooping Double down the right field line, putting runners on second and third for Brock Bodoh. Bodoh then grounded out to second which plated Hall and moved Waala over to third. Waala eventually scored on a passed ball giving the visitors a 4-3 lead. Eric Haeuser also doubled (his first hit of the season) in the inning. In the bottom of the sixth, the Tigers gave the Brewers another scare by getting a runner to second base before shortstop Alex Nannetti made two nice plays in a row to end the game and move the blue and gold to a 6-1 record. Leading offensive players for the Brewers were Dylan Hinckley (3-3, Double, RBI), Hall (1-1, two walks, SB), Waala (1-1, Double) and Haeuser (1-2, Double). Hinckley started and went the distance on the mound allowing four hits and three earned runs while striking out eleven and walking only one.
Next up: the Brewers are away against the Cubs on Tuesday at 7:45PM on the WBLL West diamond.

5/23/06 - Loveland Shuts Down White Sox
The American Legion Brewers, behind a two-hit shutout from Alex Loveland, beat the Paradise Mobil White Sox for the second time in less than a week 2-0 on the North Diamond of the West Bend Little League Complex. Loveland never really had any trouble in going the distance as he struck out seven, walked one and hit one batsmen. His strong outing also ruined a fine one-hit effort by Sox pitcher Aaron Johnson. The Brew Crew (5-1) maintains second place in the National League, still one game behind the first place Braves (6-0) who had an extra innings 6-5 victory over the Angels in tonights late match-up. The Brewers got the only run they needed in the bottom of the first when new lead-off hitter Alex Nannetti started off with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Loveland then grounded out to the pitcher, moving Nannetti to third. The Brewers shortstop then scored on Blake Wiskirchen's ground-out to the first baseman. Later, in the bottom of the fifth, the American Legion team got an insurance run when rightfielder Jack Baumann hit a one-out fly ball that was misplayed by the Sox left fielder. He advanced to second when Eric Haeuser walked and moved over to third on a wild pitch. Nannetti then grounded out to third and Baumann alertly scored on the play to finish out the scoring for the evening. Brock Bodoh had the team's only hit (his first in the majors) and a stolen base. Next up: the Crew plays the M&I Bank Tigers on Thursday at 5:45PM on the Little League Complex West diamond.

Loveland also had two RBI and scored three times while Hinckley drove in four runs. Next up: the Brewers are at home against the White Sox on Tuesday at 7:30PM on the WBLL North diamond.

5/19/06 - Brewers Split Twinbill
The American Legion Brewers beat the Paradise Mobil White Sox 8-1 in the first game of a double header last night before falling to the 7-up Braves 3-1 in the nightcap. The Brew Crew (3-1) now maintains second place (also 2nd best in the Majors) in the National League, 1 1/2 games behind the first place Braves (5-0). Against the Sox, Alex Loveland was the starting pitcher and he threw a fine ballgame, striking out three, walking none and giving up only one run on two hits over five innings. Blake Wiskirchen pitched the final frame, allowing only a hit and no runs. The American Legion team broke the game open in the fourth with Wiskirchen and Dylan Hinckley leading the inning off with back-to-back doubles to score one followed by a Nick Wolf walk. Derek Hall singled home Hinckley and after AJ Emerich and Dan Brugger each hit into a fielders choice, Hall scored from third on a wild pitch. Loveland then singled home Emerich to put the Brewers up 6-0 after three full innings and well on their way to victory. Leading hitters for the Brewers were Hall, who was 2-3 with two RBI, Blake Wiskirchen 2-4 (double, three runs scored), Dylan Hinckley 2-4 (two doubles, RBI) and Loveland  2-4 (RBI). Grant Waala was 1-1 in his only plate appearance. Later, against the Braves, Hinckley threw an excellent game only to fall prey to the opposition in the last inning. With the Brewers leading 1-0 in the top of the sixth the Braves led off with three consecutive hits and each player eventually scored from a combination of passed balls and wild pitches. In the bottom of sixth, the Brewers did manage two get the tying run aboard after Hall singled and A.J. Emerich drew a one out walk off reliever Joe Stubbe. Stubbe then proceeded to strike out the next two hitters to end the game and give the Braves a 3-1 win. Next up: the Crew plays the Angels tomorrow at 2:30PM on the Little League Complex West diamond.

5/17/06 - Double-header tomorrow

5/8/06 - Brew Crew off to 2-0 start
The American Legion Brewers came back from a 3-0 third inning deficit to defeat the VFW Cubs 7-6 and move to 2-0 on the season. Lead-off hitter Alex Loveland broke out in a big way, going 3 for 4 with two RBI. He also finished up on the mound, walking six and striking out four in two innings of work to record his first save of the season. Starting pitcher Dylan Hinckley earned his second win in as many starts by going four innings and holding the Cubs to three runs (two earned) on three hits while walking three and striking out six. Aside from Loveland, other offensive leaders were Blake Wiskirchen (1-4 with a two run triple) and Nick Wolf who went 1-3. The team scored all of it's runs in the big 4th inning when Hinckley, Wolf, Derek Hall and AJ Emerich walked consecutively to start the inning and bring across one run. Dan Brugger then reached on an error to score another run and after a strikeout, Loveland singled home two more runs. After an Alex Nannetti sacrifice bunt, Wiskirchen drilled an 0-1 pitch deep over Cubs leftfielder Corey Parris to get two more runs on the board. Wiskirchen then scored when Hinckley reached on an error to end the teams scoring for the game and put the Crew up 7-3. In the last inning, the Cubs managed to give the Brewers a real scare by scoring three runs and loading up the bases before Loveland managed to work his way out of a jam and send the home team to victory. The Brewers look for their third straight win on Friday night when they play the White Sox at 7:45PM on the West diamond.

5/6/06 - Brewers win opener 8-3
The American Legion Brewers opened the 2006 season in fine fashion, downing the Wisconsin Sports Angels 8-3 at the West Bend Baseball Complex earlier today. The Brew Crew was led by the strong pitching of Dylan Hinckley who limited the Halos to two runs on one hit while striking out seven and walking only two in three innings of work. Hinckley was also the leading hitter for the Brewers going 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBI. Blake Wiskirchen came on in the fourth and held the Angels hitless while giving up one un-earned run in two innings and Alex Loveland closed out the game holding the opposition to only one hit in his one inning on the mound. Besides Hinckley, other offensive leaders were; Nick Wolf (2-3, 1RBI, SB), Blake Wiskirchen (1-2, 2RBI), Alex Nannetti (1-2), Derek Hall (1-3, RBI, SB) and Dan Brugger (double in his only at-bat). After scoring twice in the first frame, the Crew exploded for six tallies in the bottom of the second when Brugger led off with a double to right-center and AJ Emerich reached on an error which plated Brugger. Following a strikeout, both Nannetti and Wiskirchen drew walks setting the tone for the biggest hit of the day. Ahead in the count 2 balls and no strikes, Hinckley hammered the next pitch deep to left-center to score Emerich and Nannetti which put the Brewers up 5-0. Nick Wolf followed up that by reaching on an error to score Wiskirchen and later both Hinckley and Wolf scored after several wild pitches from the Angels pitcher to make the score 8-0 as the game headed into the third. The team had a couple scares the rest of the way, but they emerged victorious as they head into their next game Monday evening against the Cubs at 7:45PM on the Little League Complex South diamond.
